The development of RE Hubs is a significant initiative of, and for the RE community. It is a privilege now to serve on the steering group. Up until the end of 2022 was employed as RE and History adviser for Hampshire County Council. For the last 3 years I have served on the board of the Religious Education Council (REC) and I am currently vice chair of AULRE, having previously been a member of the AREIAC executive. I have been professional adviser to 3 SACREs and responsible for 3 reviews of the Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton locally agreed syllabus; most recently published as Living Difference IV. I am currently writing and researching through an honorary research fellowship at Exeter University.
All these experiences reveal to me the vital importance of teachers working together with other teachers to support thinking about teaching. This is exactly what the Hubs initiative seeks to ensure is available for all RE teachers, no matter which kind of education setting they are working in.
